My Approach
I recognize that in life we are sometimes faced with challenges that leave us feeling stuck, unfulfilled, confused, or even hopeless. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, parenting, or relationships, you don't have to go through it alone. Similarly, transition periods are often very difficult and we may find ourselves feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope. This discomfort may be situational, or a more persistent concern that has lingered for quite sometime. Reaching out for help is a great way to explore coping options. As Jon Kabat-Zinn so aptly puts it, "you can't stop the waves but you can learn to surf". Licensed professionals, such as myself, are highly trained and extremely passionate about the art of helping.
I offer confidential evidence-based, non-judgemental, non-discriminatory counselling that aims to assist clients with gaining a better understanding of the issues at hand, and consequently developing tools and techniques to cope with them. I have hundreds of hours of experience working with individuals and couples in both walk-in counselling as well as longer-term settings. I also have extensive experience working with youth (ages 12-18) and their families in both individual and family settings, while maintaining utmost respect for privacy and confidentiality.

I operate from a client-centered, non-judgmental, trauma informed stance, where I integrate various therapeutic styles as needed, tailoring each intervention to the uniqueness of the client. I incorporate modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Narrative Therapy, as well as Motivational Interviewing. I am also ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) certified. I help clients navigate issues such as parenting, anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, relationships, identity, and much more. I operate from a trauma-informed, egalitarian, respectful stance, tailoring and incorporating various therapy styles as needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is e-counselling?
E-counselling is therapy offered on the internet, where the counsellor and client hold sessions online via audio+video chat. In this practice, this takes place on a secure platform designed for telehealth practitioners. Each session has its own unique link that only the client and the therapist can access. The same ethical and confidentiality guidelines that apply for in-person counselling apply for e-counselling as well.

Does insurance cover this?
Yes! Certain insurance companies cover psychotherapy services. Please check with your provider; ask if they cover Registered Psychotherapists.

Does being in therapy mean I'm crazy?
Absolutely not. Seeking therapy simply indicates that you are on track with taking charge of your mental health and attempting to change something you are not comfortable with. Just like our bodies are sometimes worn down and require healing, so does our mental health. Mental health is an integral part of overall health, so it should not be overlooked.
